One Niner West is a bearing. A Direction, a Vector. But not Even, not Level, not the path most flown. It doesn't Sound like what You've seen. Maybe it's all for the best. Maybe it's all for the best. Either Way I'm heading One Niner West.
One Niner West is a place. A Destination. A Location Real, however Ethereal or Virtual. An ideal. It's a place you are pretty sure exists, but you don't have any hard evidence that is does. And you are okay with that uncertainty. It is a place that lives only in the mind. It's that place where the grass is greener, the air is cleaner, and folks always do their best. You know it's not perfect, and you know you can't really make it so. But it gets real enough when the thunder got outside. In sound, in voice, in words, in color, in symbols, in meanings.
Then, it's real.
You know you haven’t found that place on regular headings, so, maybe if you tilt things off a few degrees and look back at it you can see it better.
I've seen three score and a little more living just a little off the beam. But that's okay. It's my beam.
One Niner West is a Philosophy. A learned response. It's a Product of and a By-Product of Time and Pressure. And that's fine. It is all those things that Make an Artist Real.
Some of us think we can hear the music. But I couldn't tell ya' For real…for real. Only you can.
