McDonald's + Meth? + Real?

I saw her outside at McDonald's.

I thought man O man……She off on something for sure.  Quick, jerky movements.  Very fast walker.  Talking to somebody, or something that wasn't there.

I got my burger, drove to Walmart, parked in the shade and rolled down my windows to eat.

I had some time to kill.

About ten minutes later she walked right up to the driver's door.  Acting very jacked up on her favorite thing…
(Or was it her least favorite thing?)

I spoke. “Hi”

She said …” Sir…can you… “unintelligible” … her voice sounded weird.

I was like… oh boy…

Then I saw…she was having to use a smartphone for her laryngectomy speaking.?  That's what it sounded like.
(What a great use of technology!)

She got the phone right…

“Can I get some assistance”

I asked her what did she need?

She didn't hesitate, she said, “Something real.”

Her lack of hesitation, her concise two-word truth, hit me HARD…on many different levels…for her…for me…for everybody.
